The Faculty of Psychotherapy Essay Prize
This Prize recognises the best essay submitted by a psychiatry trainee or recent Fellow on a psychotherapy topic.
Eligibility criteria
The Essay Prize is available to all RANZCP psychiatry trainees, and to Fellows within one year of admission to Fellowship.
Form of award
The Prize consists of A$1000 and a framed certificate. The recipient/s of the Essay Prize will be invited to attend the annual College Ceremony (during the RANZCP Annual Congress), to be formally presented with their award.
How to apply
Applications are made by submission of a suitable paper. Papers should be 2000 to 3000 words in length, and they must be suitable for publication in a refereed scientific journal. Papers may present original research data, a suitably referenced clinical report, or a detailed review of a psychotherapy-related topic.
Key dates
Applications are open annually, from 1 September to 31 October (11.59 pm AEDT).

The RANZCP Psychotherapy Research Award
Submissions will next be open 1 September–31 October 2024.
This Award funds and encourages research in psychotherapy by psychiatry trainees and recent Fellows in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Award includes: Up to A$10,000 in research funding; publication in either the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry or Australasian Psychiatry; a framed award certificate; and invitation to accept the award at the College Ceremony during Congress.
