Psychiatry of Old Age Trainee Prize for Scholarly Project
This prize is awarded to a current or recent Advanced Trainee in Psychiatry of Old Age, for meritorious research in the field.
Eligibility criteria
The award is open to Advanced Trainees in Psychiatry of Old Age, or Fellows who have achieved the Advanced Certificate in Psychiatry of Old Age within the 24 months prior to the submission deadline.
Applicants shall have completed meritorious research in the field of psychiatry of old age, either conducted within the Advanced Training program in Psychiatry of Old Age or the subsequent two years after the granting of an Advanced Certificate. Research should have been performed at least partly in Australasia, within the 2 years prior to application for the Award.
The prize will be awarded for the best scholarly project focused on issues relevant to Psychiatry of Old Age. Previous recipients of the prize will not be eligible to receive the Prize on a further occasion.
Form of award
The Prize comprises of:
- A$500
- an award certificate
- reimbursement of funds to the value of $1500 for RANZCP Congress day registration for one person, economy flights and one night accommodation for one person (to enable the presentation of the winning essay and to receive the prize).
All applicants meeting a satisfactory standard receive a certificate acknowledging this.
How to apply
Fellows and Advanced Trainees who meet the criteria are required to submit an anonymised cover letter and an anonymised copy of their research work (which is the subject of the Award) to the RANZCP before the due date.

Where there are multiple authors involved, the application must indicate the contribution of the applicant’s work.
