Committee for Research
Responsible to the Practice, Policy and Partnerships Committee (PPPC), the Committee for Research (CFR) is an active working arm of the PPPC which executes priorities in the College’s Strategic Plan related to research.
Responsibilities
Committee key responsibilities include:
- stimulate and encourage research relevant to psychiatry, thereby, encouraging critical and reflective practice
- promote opportunities for research training and experience
- acts as the principle body and provide expert advice in research matters relevant to the College
- act as the College advocate for psychiatric research matters to Government, the general public and funding bodies
- promote the dissemination of research findings relevant to psychiatry
- assess and administer the College’s research grants
- assist the RANZP Foundation to liaise with relevant organisations including research bodies
- address issues of equity for research relevant to psychiatry
- act as an information conduit to channel research evidence to the various structures within the College regarding important matters such as the profession of psychiatry; psychiatric practice; specialist medical training; trainee support; mental health service models; and mental health disorder (burden of disease).
Meeting frequency
The Committee typically meets twice a year.
