Rural readiness workshops for trainees and SIMG

The Rural Readiness Project is a three phased approach to rural readiness for psychiatry trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG) as part of the Rural Psychiatry Roadmap 2021–31.
With a focus on establishing and expanding skills imperative for trainees and SIMG to practice in a rural location, the project provides the opportunity for participants to network with fellow trainees early in their career to build connections with peers, regions, and communities that will sustain their Fellowship journey.
Seven rural readiness workshop are now confirmed, and up to 25 psychiatry trainees and SIMG can participate in each workshop. Expression of interest forms will be available soon.
Workshop dates and locations for 2025 are as below:
- Cairns QLD 30–31 May
- Hobart TAS 20–21 June
- Shepparton VIC 18–19 July
- Bunbury WA 19–20 September
- Dubbo NSW 10–11 October
- Darwin NT 31 October–1 November
- Hahndorf SA 21–22 November
This Flexible Approach to Training in Expanded Settings Program project received grant funding from the Australian Government.
