Archiving of RANZCP clinical practice guidelines
14 Nov 2024
Update
The College’s clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for eating disorders, schizophrenia, deliberate self-harm, and anxiety disorders will soon be moved to an archive state. Noting their 2014–2018 publication dates, this decision has been made by the College Board in recognition of the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) typical five-year maximum accepted lifespan for CPGs. The RANZCP’s Mood Disorders CPG will be removed in December 2025, consistent with the NHMRC five-year recommended lifespan for CPGs.
The archived CPGs will continue to be available online to both members and the wider mental health community through their respective journal publications.
These CPGs are significant achievements, and were only possible through the invaluable expertise, dedication and leadership of many RANZCP members, community members, and other experts who were involved in their development.
The College continues to review guidance in these areas through Best Practice Resources, including future opportunities to develop externally-funded CPGs to NHMRC standards, in partnership with leading Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand organisations.
