Professor Elizabeth Sampson
Liz is the inaugural Chair in the QMUL/Barts Health Academic Centre for Healthy Ageing (ACHA), leading on mental health, dementia and delirium. Her research focusses on dementia and delirium in acute hospital inpatients, and symptom management towards end of life (epidemiology, health services research) and liaison psychiatry. She was Principal Investigator on the Empowering Better End of Life Care in Dementia (EMBED-CARE) NIHR/ESRC research programme. Liz is a liaison psychiatrist for East London Foundation Trust at the Royal London Hospital. She studied medicine at the University of Birmingham and gained her MD from the UCL Institute of Neurology. Liz is vice chair of the European Delirium Association, and Vice-Chair of the Faculty of Liaison Psychiatry Executive Committee.
