Dr Annette Webb

Dr Annette Webb graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1993. She then trained as a general paediatrician and then subsequently subspecialised as a paediatric gastroenterologist. She worked as a paediatric gastroenterologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) and Cabrini Medical Centre. At RCH she was clinician lead of the functional bowel clinics, in the Department of Gastroenterology at RCH . She has also had formal training in child and adolescent psychiatry, clinical hypnotherapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy having trained at the Austin Hospital,CAMHS.

Annette was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (M.D) for her work researching novel therapies (gut focused hypnotherapy) for Adolescents with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). To undertake this research she was awarded MCRI and NHMRC postgraduate scholarships.

Annette has also trained in Integrative Medicine and was the Foundation Director of Paediatric Integrative Medicine at the National Institute of Integrative Medicine, Melbourne. She has also recently completed a fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine.

Annette currently has an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in the Department of Gastroenterology, where she runs a complex psych-gastro Gut Focused Hypnotherapy Clinic. Annette now sees patients in her private practice throughout the whole of life, from early childhood to late adulthood. She is also actively engaging in research projects in clinical hypnotherapy at the RMH.

Annette is the current President of the Australian Society of Hypnosis (ASH), Victorian Branch, having been the Federal President of ASH until the end of 2023.
