Recommendations from the RANZCP member engagement survey

Last year, over 1,200 members shared their feedback and reflections on how they relate to and interact with the College, the services they value and use, College communications, as well as ideas about what can be changed or improved.

Our membership engagement survey reports summarised the key findings, and identified priority areas of focus to improve member engagement.

The Membership Engagement Committee has further reviewed the results of these surveys and identified 16 key recommendations for action.

These are:

  • Support the Australian Branches and New Zealand National Office to develop their own local engagement strategies
  • Help members make the most of their membership and understand what’s available to them
  • Improve how we communicate major changes including better transparency and clarity on timelines
  • Better highlight current initiatives – such as workforce advocacy – and how we’re implementing them
  • Improve resources and information for trainees and early career psychiatrists, particularly focussed on key transition points
  • Create simpler, easier and more intuitive ways for members to get in touch with the College
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on welcoming and supporting new trainees
  • Improve the welcome, support and recognition for specialist international medical graduates
  • Continue to enhance our CPD program, promote lifelong learning and support members in different settings and at difference career stages to meet their CPD requirements
  • Provide annual data snapshots to members on who we are as a College – to help reinforce our shared identity and purpose
  • Change how we reflect on, acknowledge, and recognise our Fellows, Affiliates and trainees’ contributions and collective achievements
  • Continue to improve how our staff respond to member queries
  • Clearly communicate outcomes and actions following member surveys and consultations – close the loop.
  • Provide more opportunities for members to interact with College leaders and key committee members
  • Keep refining the style, tone and format of member updates and communications
  • Continue delivering webinars and online educational content that responds to areas of clinical need

As we work to implement projects, changes and improvements in these areas, we welcome your feedback on how we’re progressing. You can share your thoughts by emailing us at memberhelp@ranzcp.org.
