RANZCP Foundation opens two PhD scholarships
20 Sep 2024
Thanks to the generosity of the RANZCP Foundation Partners and Dr Roth Trisno and family, the RANZCP Foundation is delighted to offer two scholarships to encourage and support PhD research in psychiatry by RANZCP members.
The Foundation Partners PhD Scholarship and the Trisno Family PhD Scholarship, each worth up to A$60,000, are available for research costs and stipend support across any sub-speciality or focus area.
"We are delighted to open two PhD Scholarships this year," said Associate Professor John Allan, Chair of the RANZCP Foundation.
"There are few financial incentives to support doctors undertaking research in psychiatry, and these scholarships are critical to helping and encouraging new researchers.”
In 2022, Dr Malcolm Forbes, was awarded the Trisno Family PhD Scholarship. “I was incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship, which represents more than just financial support. It is an affirmation of the importance of clinical academic psychiatry,” said Dr Forbes. “Psychiatrists bring a unique depth of training and shape their research questions through the prism of patient narratives and real-world clinical challenges. We want to produce more John Cades in Australia.”
The RANZCP Foundation sincerely thanks our Foundation Partners, Dr Roth Trisno and the Trisno Family, and all our donors for their generosity and commitment to advancing psychiatry.
Applications close 6 November 2024.
