Have your say: 2025 Medical Training Surveys in Australia and New Zealand
4 Aug 2025
Opinion
Doctors in training across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand are encouraged to participate in the 2025 medical training surveys. These surveys provide valuable insights into the quality of medical training and help shape a safer, more supportive training environment for everyone.
Australia – Medical Training Survey
The Medical Training Survey (MTS) is a national, annual, profession-wide survey administered by the Medical Board of Australia. Data from six years of MTS results has built a robust evidence-base that’s driving improvements in training and shaping trainees’ choices.
The 2025 MTS will be open to all doctors in training from 4 August to 8 October.
Visit the MTS website to learn more about how your voice contributes to better training experiences.
Aotearoa New Zealand – Torohia
For the first time, Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa – the Medical Council of New Zealand is launching its own medical training survey, Torohia. The survey is aimed at all doctors enrolled in accredited prevocational and vocational training programmes.
Torohia will be open for a 3-week period from 18 August to 8 September 2025.
To find out more, visit the Torohia website.
Your feedback matters
Participation in both surveys is voluntary but strongly encouraged. More survey participants will lead to better quality data and a stronger evidence base for ongoing improvements.
By sharing your experiences, you can contribute to systemic improvements in medical training and support the next generation of psychiatrists and healthcare professionals.
