Jointly hosted by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and SANE Australia, this online panel discussion focused on the challenges faced by people with complex mental health issues in the workplace, and how they could best be supported.

Stigma and its impact on people with mental illness in the workplace were explored, along with the importance of employment and training, evidence-based treatments, and partnerships between mental health professionals, consumers, and their families.

This webinar was delivered to recognise World Mental Health Day in October 2024. The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day was ‘It’s Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace’.

Professor Malcolm Hopwood

Ramsay Health Care Professor of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne and President 2015 - 2017

Professor Malcolm Hopwood is the Ramsay Health Care Professor of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne; based at the Ramsay Clinic Albert Road (RCAR) in Melbourne, Australia. At RCAR, he is the Director of the Professorial Psychiatry Unit. His research areas of interest include psychopharmacology and clinical aspects of mood and anxiety disorders.

He was President of the RANZCP between 2015 and 2017 and is now president of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations. He is also the Chair of the Northeast Metro Interim Health and Wellbeing Body for the Victorian Department of Health.
