CPD for substantially comparable SIMG
SIMG on the Substantial Comparability Placement are required to maintain a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record and provide evidence of this to regulators.
To make it as easy as possible for you to meet these requirements:
- RANZCP will be your default CPD Home.
- You will be automatically enrolled in the CPD program if it applies to you.
- Some of your CPD requirements will be covered by your RANZCP comparability placement activities.
- As a SIMG you will gain access to the MyCPD online portal to record activities and view progress.
- Most of your SCP assessment tasks will be automatically uploaded to MyCPD, requiring only a reflection on your learning to finalise and add to your CPD record.
- No additional fees are payable (conditions may apply).
How to complete CPD requirements
A number of activities completed as part of your placement will be automatically recorded as draft activities in MyCPD for you to review, including:
- case-based discussion
- 360-degree feedback preparation and discussion
- supervisor report meetings.
You will need to add other activities, such as self-guided learning.
More detail on activities and required hours can be found in the CPD Program Guide.
Professional Development Plan
From May 2026, all SCP candidates will need to include a Professional Development Plan in their CPD. Refer to the CPD Program Guide for details. PDP templates are also available.
Timing
You are enrolled in the RANZCP CPD Program when you are admitted to the substantial comparability placement cohort, following the payment of placement fees.
The start of the CPD program is aligned with the beginning of your substantial comparability placement.
Your CPD program spans one to two calendar years, tailored to fit with the timing of your cohort.
If you start work before your placement
You need to enrol in the CPD program as soon as you are registered and start working in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand. For your specific CPD requirements and fee information, contact cpdhelp@ranzcp.org.
Peer review group participation
You may already be part of a RANZCP CPD peer review group. This means that you are officially considered a RANZCP member for this activity.
CPD statements and certificates
As a CPD participant, you will be provided with a Statement of Claim and a Completion Certificate when your requirements are done. These can be downloaded from MyCPD and used for Ahpra re-registration and workplace credentialling.
Fees
There are no additional fees for CPD while you are in a Substantial Comparability Placement. Fees may apply if you begin work prior to your placement start date.
Help and support
Your enrolment includes access to MyCPD, as well as resources, tools and support from the CPD Team.
The CPD Team can help you with:
- identifying activities that qualify for CPD hours or CPD exemption
- submitting CPD evidence via MyCPD
